Optimize User Experience with a Product Mindset and Machine Learning

Migrating a mainframe system to the cloud opens new opportunities and boosts security, resiliency, and scalability. It also presents new opportunities to optimize user experience. This is particularly true when modernization teams integrate a product mindset as part of their approach. When teams add this as part of their methodology, they ask themselves as part of their assessment phase to consider all stakeholders in their planning, including current and future users, and anticipate how to build a future-ready system that can adapt to changing needs as it evolves.
Marrying ML and the Product Mindset
When combined with machine learning (ML), the product mindset can reduce customer friction and enhance the user experience. ML excels at analysis tasks. Consider the various ways users interact with a website or application and the clues they could leave teams looking to learn from their behavior. It is no surprise, then, that ML built to support the product mindset can be a potent tool in the hands of product managers, business analysts, user experience and integration experts, and other product-minded individuals.
In a recent GovLoop post, Chief Architect Kartik Mecheri goes further. He introduces ML as a pathway to understanding user behavior. He notes one of the strongest use cases for ML is analyzing the large volume of interaction and user data generated across enterprise systems. When analyzed by AI, these clues can present a product team with information on the current user experience. It reveals opportunities to build a better experience by identifying friction points like processing time, navigation difficulties, and form completion errors.
The product team can then use those insights in two ways. First, it enables the team to design the modernized system in a way that allows the current users to interact with the system now and in the future. It also allows the team to enhance the user experience as they modernize by targeting user friction points.
We incorporated some of this behavioral analysis into the blueprinting phase of our ReDuX AI toolkit. Built from the beginning with a product mindset, it is used by modern software development teams as they modernize complex legacy systems.
